low maintenance & reliable vehicle - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By capecodcuda - December 26 - 7:34 am02/2011 i took my 2003 ford explorer xls sport in on trade, for a street bike i had on craigslist. its my daily driver. i driven it all around florida, with friends. its very comfortable driving. i have a 5 speed manual & would have to admit it is fun to drive too. the 4.0L v6 has great power. especially, going through the 3:73 rear end in my truck. maintenance has been very minimal. i am mechanically incline. so, i service my own vehicles. i inspect it daily & services as needed. when i first got the truck i had several minor things to repair. due to previous owners neglect. one common problem with these vehicles is the coolant thermostat housing unit a dealer item $80. i would recommend!

Explorer sport - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By exposport - November 24 - 2:00 amThis is my first Explorer sport. I love the style on the outside, and the interior is nice, and is exactly the same since the 95 model in a lot of ways. the only thing i dont like is the handles in the interior, the paint chips off of the handles.

The drive train has been around for over ten years, so we think well have few problems. This is our second Explorer Sport, and we love it. Im 62" and Im comfortable driving it. My wife likes the conveniences of an SUV. Yeah the fuel economy could be better, but you dont buy an SUV for fuel econmy.

D. :He just purchased a Ford!! My surprise !! Exelent electronics.. I drive on and off road, tow a small trailer for an ATV.. Handles VG. I definitly try a newer model !! At the beginig gas was not so great... Rear bumper should be stronger.... More space to enter back seat...

awesome suv - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By mudslinger - December 20 - 6:10 amI love my explorer, i had a little tranny trouble but it cleared up on its own the rear end went out at 140,000 miles but went to my local junk yard and picked up a posi trac rear out of an older modle sport for 60 bucks and back on the road.the posi rear was the best mod i made along with 31x10x15 on 15x10 aluminum wheels which made it wider and handles like a car, the gas milage is great for an suv i average 19 city and 21 hwy which is great considering i have a 95 taurus that gets the same mpg.
